Scholarships, Awards & Grants 2010-2011
Rationale: The benefits of higher education go beyond increasing a student’s potential employability and earning power over the course of their career. Graduates lead healthier lifestyles, contribute more to their communities and are more tolerant towards a diverse community than their contemporaries who do not participate in higher education [Source: 'Revisiting the benefits of higher education’ – HEFCE research 2003].
With this in mind, at UNYT we believe that everyone should aspire to achieving a university education and that no student should be deterred from applying to our University solely for financial reasons. It is for this reason that UNYT, in collaboration with various companies and institutions, offers a series of competitive scholarships, awards and grants for outstanding undergraduate students studying for a Bachelor’s degree.

A. Annual Scholarships for Entering First-Year Students:
1. Five (5) Full-Fee Scholarships for Freshmen: Competitive scholarships for the top five students with a High School G.P.A. of ≥ 8.0 who score the highest scores on three exams administered at UNYT: English, Mathematics and Computer Usage (renewed annually upon maintenance of a cumulative G.P.A. of no less than 3.33).
2. One full-fee “Gramoz Pashko” Scholarship for Freshmen: Aimed at financing one student with a High School G.P.A. of ≥ 8.0 who intends to pursue a Bachelor’s in Economics or Finance and achieves the highest score in three exams administered at UNYT: English, Mathematics and Computer Usage (renewed annually upon maintenance of a cumulative G.P.A. of no less than 3.33).
3. Six (6) Half-Fee Scholarships for Freshmen: Competitive scholarships for students with a High School G.P.A. of ≥ 8.0/10 who score the 6th-12th highest scores on three exams administered at UNYT: English, Mathematics and Computer Usage (renewed annually upon maintenance of a cumulative G.P.A. of no less than 3.33).
B. Excellence Fund Grants for Entering First-Year Students:
1. Academic Distinction Grants: Grants covering 15% of the tuition fees for students with a High School G.P.A. (Matura Shteterore) between 9.5-10, studying for a UNYT degree (renewed annually upon maintenance of a cumulative G.P.A. of no less than 3.33).
2. Academic Merit Grants: Grants covering 10% of the tuition fees for students with a High School G.P.A. (Matura Shteterore) between 9.0-9.4, studying for a UNYT degree (renewed annually upon maintenance of a cumulative G.P.A. of no less than 3.33).
C. Academic Excellence Awards (Rector’s List):
Placement on the Rector’s list for any semester is reserved for full-time students who complete 12 or more credits with a semester G.P.A. of 3.50 or higher and who have no repeat of failing grades in that semester. The five students topping the Rector’s List qualify for the Academic Excellence Award worth up to 50% reduction in fees the following semester.
D. Corporate Grants and Awards:
1. One (1) Full-Fee “Ruben & Gramoz Pashko Award” offered by Balkan Resources Sh.p.k.: Offered annually to a UNYT student producing the best essay on Entrepreneurship, covering the student’s tuition fees of the following academic year.
2. One (1) “AGNA GROUP Award”: An award worth 5,000 $ offered in 2007 and 2008 to UNYT – SUNY/ESC’s Valedictorian student.
3. Two (2) “Ruben & Gramoz Pashko Grant” offered by Balkan Resources Sh.p.k.: Awards worth 1,000 € each, offered annually to the two UNYT students producing the second and third best essays on Entrepreneurship.
E. One SUNY/ESC “Ruben & Gramoz Pashko” Award:
An award worth 1,500 $ offered to one of the top junior students who demonstrates clear potential for leadership.
