Research and Development Office

 WHO WE ARE
UNYT established a Research, Development and Projects Office in 2007. The office was established to coordinate and facilitate cooperation with other partners at a national and international level. The UNYT has a large research and project database which has been recognized by municipalities, the government and also international agencies (donors) as a powerful source for research and innovative projects and collaboration. The Office advises on and supports applications for various domestic and international grants.

The UNYT staff members have contributed to various international papers, journals, books, etc. They have also supervised clusters of PhD students.

The UNYT Departments include: the Department of Economics, Business and Administrative Sciences, Department of Computer Sciences, Department of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Department of Humanities and Social Sciences and English Department and Literature Department.


WHAT WE OFFER

          DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMICS, BUSINESS AND ADMINISTRATIVE SCIENCE
The Department of Economics, Business and Administrative Sciences presents a wide spectrum of lecturers, academics and high profile professionals such as bank, insurance company, and other senior officials. It is a research-active department publishing across a wide range of economics subjects. The Department has taught and graduated an extensive range of high quality undergraduate and post-graduate students.

Lecturers and researchers from our academic staff in this Department have provided their expertise in various research and technical assistance projects in Albania. These were funded by various donors such as the World Bank, the European Commission, DFID, and GTZ.

The UNYT staff members are continuously invited by government agencies and other project-implementing agencies to deliver training on topics related to trade, public administration, and education.
    
          DEPARTMENT OF HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL SCIENCES
The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences presents a wide spectrum of academics who have appropriate expertise in areas such as cultural heritage, history of religions, gender, anthropology, sociology, psychology, and psychotherapy. The Department provides an extensive range of high-quality services to undergraduate students. A counseling center has also been established within this Department to support any UNYT student experiencing psychological problems, by offering proper advice and counseling.

Lecturers and researchers in this Department include research staff supported by qualified support staff and doctoral and postdoctoral research staff. They have contributed significantly in their respective fields as lecturers and researchers worldwide.

The UNYT staff members of this Department are continuously carrying out research on topics related to such topics as cultural heritage, culture and identity, Balkan politics, gender ideology and practice, and counseling. They are contributors to various international papers, journals, and books.. They have also supervised numerous clusters of PhD students.

Members of the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences have expertise in the field of Cultural Heritage in the Balkan region and Albania, Culture and Identity, Ethnicity and Nation-building, Social Anthropology, European Legacy, Gender Issues, Gender-based Violence, and Psychotherapy.

         ENGLISH LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE DEPARTMENTLecturers from this Department have extended academic expertise. They all have relevant research and lecturing experience from other institutions in Europe and other continents. A Writing Center has been established under the supervision of this Department to offer advice on research papers for course work, essay papers, and other assignments.

The members of the English Language and Literature Department have expertise in the fields of American Culture and Literature (particularly postmodern and postcolonial studies), Comparative Literatures of the Balkans and beyond, Evaluation of English Textbooks, Theories of Poetry and Drama, and Techniques for the ESL classroom. Research interests from this Department include Academic Writing, Integrated Language Teaching, Student Motivation, Shakespeare and Tragedy, Modern American Literature, American Literature of the 20th Century, American Culture and Literature, and Comparative Literatures and Culture.

          DEPARTMENT OF MATHEMATICS AND NATURAL SCIENCES
Lecturers and researchers in this department include mathematicians with significant expertise in the field. A Mathematic Center has been established under the supervision of this department for tutoring and mentoring students. This is a joint effort between the academic staff and some of the most astute UNYT students.

The members of the Mathematics and Natural Sciences Department have expertise in the field of Functional Analysis, Probability Theory, Deterministic and Stochastic Partial Differential Equations and their applications on Economy, Physics, Biology, Medicine, Ergodic theory, Dynamical Systems, Connectedness of Self-affine Attractors, and Maximal Pattern Complexity for Toeplitz Words. The areas of research interests in the field of Biology are Allergies Specific to Allergenic Species in Albania, Mold Allergy and House Dust Mites, Indoor Allergens, and Environment.

    
     DEPARTMENT OF   COMPUTER SCIENCES
The lecturers of this department have a profound worldwide contribution in the field as lecturers and researchers. They are contributors to many industry-recognized certifications and papers at several newspapers. Moreover, a computer laboratory on the premises of UNYT supports the students and researchers of this department.

The members of the Computer Sciences Department have expertise in the field of Data Communications and Networks, Management of Information Systems, Software Engineering, UML, analysis of SODAR (Sound Detection and Ranging) Signals Using Fast Fourier Transformations, and Data Warehousing and Mining.
