Institutional Development Plan

1. Medium-Term Institutional Development Strategy (1-3 years)

  • Assessing and updating our curricula to fit the needs of the continuously changing international demands and the demands of the local employment market. The workshops restructuring our curricula will include selected members of academic and the business community living in Albania and abroad. Approval of the new curricula by SUNY/ESC.
  • More emphasis on the university’s research component.
  • Approval of moral and monetary incentives for the faculty’s further engagement into scientific research and publications.
  • Application of a modest plan of faculty development.
  • Application of a modest plan of UNYT Library’s further development.
  • Improvement of the internal system of quality assurance with modern technologies, adding the element of our graduates’ employment record in the self-evaluation criteria of the university.
  • Consolidation and strengthening of UNYT’s relations with its alumni.
  • Strengthening of UNYT’s relations with the business community.
  • Improvement of UNYT’s academic and administrative system of decision-making (compilation of a Book of Decisions, review of the Students’ and Instructors’ Manuals, cross-trainings, etc.).
  • Offering a greater range of graduate programmes at a Master’s level.
  • Application to the Ministry of Education to offer doctoral studies’ programmes
  • Continuing our services to the community in-wide (through our participation in SIFE, etc.).

2. Long-Term Institutional Development Strategy (2-5 years)

  • Building of a new campus (Conditions emerging from the global financial crises have compelled UNYT to reconsider this plan and postpone it. UNYT has instead epanded and renovated its existing campus until conditions in the future allow the implementation of this plan.)
  • Establishment of fora between UNYT, its alumni and the professional community.
  • Establishment of sustainable funding instruments for scientific research.
  • Institutionalization of the UNYT Alumni Association.
  • Automization of many administrative services to students.
  • Accreditation of graduate and post-graduate programmes (if the application is approved).
  • Extending our Master’s programmes to additional fields.
