Profile
Dr. K. Giakoumis is UNYT’s Deputy Rector and Head of the Department of Humanities, Social and Political Sciences (I.R.), and teaches Western Civilization I & II, and Art History I & II. Prior to his UNYT assignment, Dr. K. Giakoumis worked as a primary school teacher in England, and as a lecturer of Modern Greek language and culture at Bournville College of Continued Education in Birmingham.
As an Honorary Research Fellow of the University of Birmingham and a scientific colleague of the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Albania, Dr. Giakoumis carries out research in Albania in ecclesiastical monuments and related historical sources. Apart from his native Greek, he is fluent in English, French, and Albanian, and has a reading knowledge of Turkish, Russian, Italian, German and Spanish.
He has participated in many international, Byzantinological conferences and is a member of a number of historical and Art historical scientific organisations. He has published extensively in scholarly journals in his field, and in Greek, English, and Albanian languages.
